Folk Art
Finding unusual folk art is one of the most rewarding pleasures of antique hunting. Generally created by people with no formal artistic training, folk art encompasses a wide range of objects crafted with the traditional techniques of a particular region, culture or industry. Folk art typically consists of practical, utilitarian objects with an inherent beauty or charm. While not created with the intention of being displayed as art for art's sake, we find that humble tools, toys, painted storage chests, planters, and wall pieces with surprising and decorative details make an intriguing alternative to more traditional art.
