19th C Louis Philippe Sideboard With Marble Top
Description
Found in France, this Louis Philippe mahogany and marble sideboard dates from the 1860s. Bow front cabinet with four drawers over four hinged cabinet doors. Marble top has a beveled edge and is a taupey shade of brown with streaks of cream, gray, black and rust. Marble is in very good condition with no flaws found. Drawers have dovetail construction, brass trim on the fronts and brass ring pull hardware. Lower cabinet door have brass trim on the fronts, decorative escutcheons and functional locks. Cabinets on the ends are curved with two internal shelves. Center cabinet doors open to storage with a single internal shelf. Reeded, tapered legs with brass-capped feet. Very good overall antique condition with minor surface wear to wood finish and some minor scattered dings and patina to brass. Unknown maker. Four skeleton keys included.
